Application source: how Caylem is packaged and sold

Caylem is not a hosted service and not a code generator. It is application source: the complete code of this working web application, delivered as a ZIP for a named release and priced in rand. You buy it, run it, rename it and keep developing it in your own repository.

What application source means

Application source is the full code of a running product, not a set of snippets or a design template. Caylem packages the storefronts, backend, shared components, email templates, release tooling and setup guide that run this site.

You can browse the complete file structure of the latest release before you buy. File contents unlock in your library after purchase.

Releases, not a moving target

Each Caylem release is a snapshot: an immutable ZIP of the source at one version. Checkout shows the exact release you receive and its rand price. The changelog lists what changed.

Your project does not change when Caylem does. You decide when, and whether, to bring later changes into your own code.

Two ways to buy

A one-time purchase covers the exact release shown at checkout. Later snapshots are separate purchases at their listed rand price.

Where it is offered, an updates subscription gives you the latest and all available earlier snapshots while it is active. Cancel in the billing portal in your library. Access continues until the paid period ends, and ZIPs you have downloaded stay on your computer. Polar confirms the price, tax and billing period before payment.

What happens after you buy

Your library lists the snapshots you can access. Read the source in the code browser, then download the ZIP, extract it and follow the README. The prototype app runs with no service accounts. The connected storefronts need your own Clerk, Convex, Polar and Resend configuration.

The ZIP has no Git history. Start your own repository, commit the release and build from there.

What the MIT licence allows

The source is licensed under MIT. You can modify it, sell products built on it, deliver it to clients and publish it under your own brand, provided you keep the copyright and licence notices.

Your purchase gives you the source of the selected release. It does not transfer ownership of Caylem itself or include future releases, hosting or service accounts.

Built by Lyemac. Shipped as Caylem.

Lyemac is the South African company that builds and maintains Caylem. Caylem is the product you buy and build on.

Common questions

Is Caylem a SaaS boilerplate?

Yes, if you use that term for a starter you build a product on. Caylem ships a complete, running application rather than a set of separate features.

Can I see the code before I buy?

You can browse every file and folder of the latest release in the explorer. File contents unlock after purchase.

Does the rand price include hosting or services?

No. It covers the source release. Hosting, service accounts, custom development and maintenance are separate.

Inspect the application you would build on

Check the selected release and its current ZAR price before purchase. You receive the source under MIT. Hosting, service approval, custom development and maintenance are separate. Your source purchase does not approve your future business to accept payments.
